Half Marathon Training!

I have two 10K's I have registered for and I would really like to register for more races this season so I need to get my butt in gear! I will update my training plan every week so keep myself accountable and stay on track.

"No matter how slow you go, you are still lapping everybody on the couch." Love this quote. I really just want to run the whole 10K, but at the same time, I don't want to come in last so I'm going to get a move on!

Week 1 - May 2-8, 2011

Monday, May 2 - Rest (Ha, nice way to start training!)
Tuesday, May 3 - 2.5m run
Wednesday, May 4 - 30 min cross training
Thursday, May 5 - 2m run
Friday, May 6 - Rest
Saturday, May 7 - 40 min cross training
Sunday, May 8 - 3m run

Since it's Thursday and I'm just starting (whoops!) I'm going to add on an extra mile or so to today's training. I'm excited!

** Had a great week running! Slacked on the cross training but will try harder in Week 2! **

Week 2 - May 9-15, 2011

Monday, May 9 - Stretch
Tuesday, May 10 - 2.5m run
Wednesday, May 11 - 30 min cross training
Thursday, May 12 - 2m run + strength
Friday, May 13 - Rest
Saturday, May 14 - 40 min cross training
Sunday, May 15 - 3.5m run

** Still slacked on cross training but runs were wonderful! **

Week 3 - May 16-22, 2011

Monday, May 16 - Stretch
Tuesday, May 17 - 2.5m run
Wednesday, May 18 - 35 min cross training
Thursday, May 19 - 2m run + strength
Friday, May 20 - Rest
Saturday, May 21 - 50 min cross training
Sunday, May 22 - 4m run

** Training went great this week, so great in fact that I've registered for the Chicago Rock 'N' Roll Half Marathon on August 14th. Let the fun begin! Instead of running 4 miles on Sunday (which actually turned into Monday) I ran 5 miles with ease!**

Week 4 - May 23-29, 2011

Monday, May 23 - Ran 5 miles
Tuesday, May 24 - Rest
Wednesday, May 25 - 4m run
Thursday, May 26 - Rest
Friday, May 27 - 2m run
Saturday, May 28 - Rest
Sunday, May 28 - 6 miles

Tuesday, May 31 - Rest
Wednesday, June 1 - 4 miles
Thursday, June  2 - Rest
Friday, June 3 - 2 miles
Saturday, June 4 - Rest
Sunday, June 5 - 7 miles

** A bit distracted this week due to Dan coming home. I missed my long run on Sunday but did it on Tuesday, June 7th. The most important part is I got it done! **

Week 6 - June 6 - June 13, 2011

Monday, June 6 - 2 miles
Tuesday, June 7 - Rest
Wednesday, June 8 - 3 miles
Thursday, June 9 - 2 miles
Friday, June 10 - 2 miles
Saturday, June 11 - Rest
Sunday, June 12 - 8 miles

I've been SERIOUSLY slacking on updating this thing with Dan coming home and us traveling back to NB, etc. but I am still running and training as much as possible before the race in August!
