Five for Friday.

I loved the first time you...

1. took me on a date to the beach. I remember trying to impress you with my four inch heels. (SO practical!)

2. called me your best friend.

3. sent me an e-mail after you received your first care package in Afghanistan. I loved opening my e-mail account and seeing an e-mail with the subject line "YOU'RE THE BEST EVER!!!!!!!"

4. came home from deployment and completely surprised me even though at the time I was totally bummed you'd been in Canada for a week and not called.

5. told me you wanted to be with me forever.

Countdown.

backward count: a count in descending order before an event such as a rocket launch

...or seeing your boyfriend - whatever.

I remember the last time Dan was deploying. There was a countdown until pre-deployment training was over and all the home visits in between, countdown to the official leave date, which turned into a countdown for R&R, etc. The countdowns were endless. I love them. Crosssing off those dates and knowing you're one day closer to seeing your love is a wonderful feeling.

What do you count by? I usually count by dates but while reminiscing I was reminded that I sometimes counted by paydays. Please tell me I'm not alone. haha

While searching through countdown, tickers, and other deployment stuff, I came across
this. I think it's beyond adorable! Obviously it's made with a chalkboard because you know that the date will change 123948 billion times before he actually arrives home.

Do you love countdowns as much as I do?

Is this what it's like?

Here I sit here on a Friday night, watching Remember Me and eating dinner alone while thinking "this is what it's going to be like!" It's not terribly bad, but it's probably only easy because I know Dan is still in Vancouver. Regardless, I'm enjoying an evening to myself.

Five for Friday.

1. When we were buying sandwiches the sandwich maker asked us how long we'd been dating. I replied "four years". He said "and you're still in love??" to which you replied, "YES!!" in the most excited way. I loved it.

2. You're spending every moment you can with me until you leave.

3. You appreciate me which makes this whole thing so much easier.

4. You made breakfast for me, cleaned the kitchen and did a load of laundry for me. I love my stay-at-home boyfriend. ;)

5. You cook the best BBQ's in the history of the world.

Some News.

Finally, I have a little update!

On Wednesday, Dan got news that his deployment position was possibly cut. They say he could find out later this week whether or not he's going but no doubt he'll only get a couple days notice. Regardless, we've been acting as though it is for sure happening since that is most likely at this point. I'm just working on staying as carefree and as positive as possible.

On Saturday morning, we drove up North to 70 Mile to go see Dan's mom before he leaves. We had a nice time with her and her husband, Helmut. Helmut made his delicious homemade German cheesecake as a special treat. We spent time sunbathing, fishing, crafting, chatting, and relaxing. I love spending time with regardless of what we're doing, but it's so fun to spend time driving long distances and just being able to chat and take in the scenery. We stopped at
Hell's Gate in the Fraser Canyon on the way home. We rode the Airtram and took touristy photos (My camera is with Dan so those will have to come later this week!) We also bought some delicious fudge and as I write this post I realize that we left it in our friend's Jeff and Jess' fridge! Now I'm seriously craving my rocky road fudge!

We ended up in Chilliwack at Jess and Jeff's house and made a BBQ dinner for them. They're always so generous and feed our hungry faces whenever we go so we wanted to treat them! We enjoyed their company and stayed up until 2am playing
Settlers of Catan (love it!) I'm just a little sleepy today!

I hate to think that we're now down to one weekend left until Dan leaves! With this whole deployment confusion, I am grateful that we at least get a few more days together. That makes for a happy Ashley.

I promise I will post the photos from our weekend away sometime this week!

Five for Friday.

I swear there is a new post coming soon, but my brain is other places this week. It's been slightly hectic but things will hopefully calm down next week!

In any case, I do have enough brain power for my Five for Friday!

You make me smile...

...when I ask you what you're thinking and you say "nothing." I know you're only saying it because I always do. :)
... when you send me sweet texts on random mornings wishing me a great day.
... when you tell me that you want me forever.
... when you tickle me. Even though I pretend not to like it, I really do.
... when you take me up to your mom's. It means a lot to know that you want me there with you.

Wordless Wednesday.

What is Wordless Wednesday?

On Wednesdays all over the internet, bloggers post a photograph with no words to explain it on their blog. Hence the "wordless" title. The idea is that the photo says so much that it doesn't need any description.

* Photo found here. So many amazing, touching photos.

Oh and just a couple words FOR Wednesday since I have a lot on my mind. My "Quote of the week" will seriously be my mantra for awhile:

"You must give up the life you planned in order to have the life that is waiting for you." - Joseph Campbell

It's annoying and while I don't want to accept it, it's true. So I need to shake off my funk of everything not going "just so" and accept what is and embrace it!

Five for Friday.

I haven't been around much lately due to school ending and trying to spend as much time with Dan as possible before he leaves. We're down to less than three weeks before he goes.

I've decided to start something called Five for Friday! My friend Jess, over at
jesstagirl and her officer does this weekly, writing five things she loves about her husband. I love this idea so I'm going to start...right now!

I love you because...

1. You always clean up after I cook dinner.
2. You think I'm cute when I act weird.
3. You make me feel like the luckiest girl in the world.
4. You love everything I cook for you even if it's as boring as nachos.
5. You will go to the end of the Earth to make me happy.

Last weekend, Dan took me to Seattle to go to
The Melting Pot. I wanted to go there so bad when we were down there in February, but it was all booked up. We had the most amazing meal and a great night away. We ate, shopped, and just enjoyed eachother's company. It was great to have that time together.

Next weekend we're going up North to Dan's mom's house. We're going to spend a couple days with her before Dan goes. Their house is so relaxing so it will be nice to enjoy some time up there. Other than that, before he leaves our time will be filled up with lots of errands and packing, I presume.
